I have tried to download the PDFâs XMP file, edit the XMP file adding the aforementioned fields and metadata using XML Notepad, and importing the XMP file back into the PDF. For the first scenario, I edit the XMP file creating each article title as a parent and its subsequent metadata as children. The XML looks good. The term metadata literally means âdata about dataâ. Metadata provide additional information about a certain file, such as its author, creation data, possible copyright restrictions or the application used to create the file. The way metadata can be used in PDF files is described on this page.
When you view a PDF, you can get information about it, such as the title, the fonts used, and security settings. Some of this information is set by the person who created the document, and some is generated automatically.
